Goes to sleep, when computer sleeps and when it is not being used for while.
Only problem is, that doesn't sleep, when you turn the computer off (or atleast not for me).
Works perfectly here. Cannot comment on the sleeping feature though as the unit is attached to an always-on G4 mini acting as my HTPC.
I have experience of the 1TB model, and clearly it cannot handle the always-on nature of a Mac mini HTPC. The unit failed in under a year and would not start at all. After 3 weeks of repairs by LaCie, I got the unit back (with all data wiped), only to notice that the drive overheats quickly. I was unable to copy a 200GB library on the drive before it would disconnect apparently due to heat build-up.
Still under warranty, I took the drive in and got refunded. Got a WD Elements instead.
