While not exactly trivial to set up (requiring a level of geekiness, I suppose), the Harmony 555 has set my living room free once a few hours of configuration and trial & error testing were complete.
The Harmony replaced 3 remotes and has provided a great deal of simplicity to watching TV together with an EyeTV. And my wife loves it.
